A corridor community with no historic downtown
Ogden is an unincorporated part of New Hanover County along the Market Street/US-17 corridor between Wilmington's urban core and the beach towns to the north, and it has no historic downtown of its own. What's here instead is decades of suburban subdivision construction built out along that corridor.
Foundations on graded corridor infill
Because Ogden grew through ongoing infill rather than a single development wave, the ground under any given lot was likely cleared and graded specifically for that construction, and disturbed soil doesn't always settle evenly under a foundation in the years afterward. That's a common source of the cracking and minor slope homeowners notice as a newer home settles in.
